St Andrews Castle

It is said that the ghost here is either Archbishop John Hamilton (who was hanged for supporting Mary, Queen of Scots) or Cardinal Beaton, who was murdered here in the 16th century, his body stored in a barrel of brine for more than 7 months. The spectre has been seen staring out of a window in the gate house. A "White Lady," who wears a veil and carries a book, is also said to have been seen near the castle and on the beach, too. Another figure has been seen flitting between windows here too - but there are no walls for the figure to walk on behind the walls.
