The Battle of Otterburn

The Battle of Otterburn was a victory for invading Scottish forces in 1388, even though they lost their leader, the Earl of Douglas, and over 10,000 men were slaughtered. The armies are said to silently replay the battle, but galloping horses, screams and the sounds of clashing swords have been heard - and on occasion, wounded soldiers seen as they cross nearby roads.
