Thirlwall Castle

A legend exists that a dwarf guards a table made from solid gold that John Thirlwall (who had his home fortified to protect against border raids by the Scots) obtained during one of his overseas trips. Thirlwall was compelled to allow the dwarf to return home with as he was its "guardian." During a raid, the dwarf threw the table down a well and jumped in after it. Thirlwall was unable to find the treasure afterwards to no avail. He is apparently still seen, looking for his table - and the dwarf is said to surrender it to the only son of a widow. Additionally, a female voice singing has been heard coming from the castle.
