Mompesson's Well

The village of Eyam was ravaged by the plague in the 17th century; clergyman William Mompesson quarantined the village to prevent the plague spreading and sympathetic villagers in nearby towns would leave supplies for Eyam's residents at Mompesson's well, in return for payment that had been sterilised in running water or vinegar. It is here that the spirit of a little boy has been seen, patiently waiting.
