Hereford Cathedral

A Canon dressed in white who was butchered in the 11th century by invading Welshmen has been seen around the Lady Chapel, where the high altar used to be, and where he was struck down, holding its cross above his head to repel the miscreants. It is claimed by some that more than one person was massacred in the raid, for other "white figures", identified as monks have been claimed. There are also stories that the organ plays by itself, this act being blamed on John Bull, who played the instrument in the 17th century.
