Bridgeman House

Now subdivided into flats, one of phantoms is dressed in a long black skirt and blouse with a white pinafore, and her hair tied up in a bun. She makes pictures and mirrors fall from walls and closes doors and is described as angry. She is said to wail in despair as to the state of her house. She is thought to be Emma Devonshire, a former housekeeper. There is also said to be a young woman who was trapped in her room by her parents when she became married out of wedlock; both she and her child died during birth on Christmas Eve. Her phantom is said to be seen in the back back bedroom, weeping. A third spectre is said to have a long face and moustache and struts around "with his head in the air." This may be William Frampton Andrews who lived here at the start of the 20th century. It is not known if these ghosts still manifest.
