Clearwell Castle

A number of phantoms are said to haunt this building; hooded figures seen in the corridors, a lady seated in a window seat in a silk dress, another lady in a red dress and a spectral woman who leaves a wake of perfume (she may be one of the other ghostly ladies, though). A few members of the pop group Black Sabbath once saw a figure in a black cloak in 1974, which they followed into the armoury only to find that it had vanished! In addition, a set of doors is said to open and close by itself, and in the past an owner rebuilt a set of stairs to stop the phantoms using it. However, it is reported that current management are not keen to talk about its spectral inhabitants.
