Salisbury Hall

A multitude of ghosts haunt this building; a young, beautiful women wearing a blue shawl (supposedly Nell Gwynne, who had appeared as a portent that a solicitor had run off with valuable funds); footsteps; an unspecified "horror" that emerged from a wall and loitered over the beds, one of which was once reported to shake and vibrate; lights that turned on by themselves; and a spectral Cavalier who, it is said, killed himself rather than let vital secrets be divulged to the enemy (sometimes only his footsteps are heard but from time to time, he is seen impaled on a sword). A woman has also been heard in the grounds of the hall, and on one occasion, a lady's laugh woke one visitor but he was unable to discern whether it came from inside or outside.
