Malmesbury Abbey Ruins

The ruined arches and walls of this abbey plays host to a spectral monk, but he is never seen for long. The local story is that the monk was from the 11th century and was named Eilmer (or Elmer); based on his study of birds, he successfully constructed a glider that carried him from the abbey tower, albeit earning himself a broken leg (or two!) upon landing. Further thoughts of flight were quashed by the abbot. In the cemetary, a black robed Benedictine monk has been seen, and chanting and singing heard coming from the Abbey after dark.
