St James GarlickhytheIn the 1850s, a mummified man was found in the vault and christened 'Jimmy Garlick'. His ghost is said to persist, protecting the church. He may be the robed figure seen here during World War 2; the church survived the many air raids on London, where others were flattened. However, some reports say that he is still being seen.
