Box Tunnel

A phantom 1920s steam train, painted in the colours of the Great Western Railway is reputed to race along this track for almost a mile until it reaches Corsham, where it fades away. It seems that the train is now only audible. Other apparations, described as shadowy figures have been seen silhouetted against the entrance, and others say they are dressed in 19th century garb. Four workmen were said to have heard a woman crying at the east exit of the tunnel and when they investigated, they saw a women in a nightgown. She stared back at them and then vanished.
