The Red Lion

The ghosts of three 15th century men emerge from the pub and walk towards the Bargate on the way to their execution, their heads bowed. These are the men who disapproved of King Henry V as monarch and plotted to replace him with the Earl of March, Richard II's nephew. The conspirators were convicted of treason and sentenced to death in the courtroom, which is now the Red Lion inn. A lady in her sixties (some stories claiming that she is only visible from the knees up) is also seen in the bar area, while in the cellar, the door has been heard to open and footsteps, sounding like someone in a suit of armour has descended the stairs. Some claims exist that 21 ghost haunt this building.

Update 15/4/22: I visited the pub and spoke to the landlady, Trish, who is said to have worked at the pub for 21 years. When I asked her if anything had been experienced recently, she said that her pub's CCTV caught footage of a glass exploding in June 2021 which is on the pub's Facebook page. She also said that a mysterious face had been caught in a photo taken upstairs and that on "medium's nights", there was consistent talk of a little boy. I showed her my write-up (above) and she said a few times, "Yes, I've heard of that" - but at no point did she say that anything had actually been experienced during her time at the pub.
