Royal Hippodrome

Emily Fogarth, who died here aged 12 about a hundred years ago haunts this building. She is said to be a young girl with hair in "long curly spirals" and wearing a deep blue velvet dress who is seen in the actresses' dressing rooms, sitting in a chair while the performer's make up is being applied or costumes being put on. Another ghost is actor Tod Slaughter who played maniacs in theatre and on film; he is described as being a tall man in black and plays the piano and is blamed for the sound of a heavy chain being dragged and other phenomena. There is also said to be "a Grey Lady" who watches rehearsals in the Grand Circle and has been seen walking on stage. Other reported phenomena include drops in temperature and the sensation of being grabbed or pushed.
