Bedford Street

Until it was destroyed in the bombings during World War 2, Bedford House stood in this area. In the 17th century, the ninth daughter of King Charles II, Princess Henrietta Anne, was born here but was smuggled to France before her father was defeated during the Civil War. It is in France that she became friends with Sir Jeffrey Hudson, who was a dwarf. Since the house was destroyed, a woman dressed in an ornate style and dating from the 17th century and accompanied by a much smaller man, who holds her hand.
