Alnwick Castle

People have noted a vile smell, like bad breathe in their faces and women report being grabbed. In the 13th century, a hermit used to live in the grounds and people found him repugnant, especially after a young girl had been attacked another raped, the latter one having her tongue and eyes cut out so that the assailant couldn't be identified. He died some months later but his coffin was soon found exhumed and his body found a distance away. The body was re-interred but a great cloud of misfortune descended on the town, including children vanishing. The hermit's body, which had shown no sign of decay, was dug up and burnt and the townsfolk's problems ceased.
