Rathlin Island Caves

In 1575, English forces invaded the island and killed the Scottish troops stationed there; the castle was then besieged and about 200 people were slaughtered. The English then moved to the caves where 400 men, women and children were hiding and all were butchered. It is said that the caves still echo with the screams of the hundreds who were murdered.
