During the reign of Henry VIII, three men were drinking in a village inn in the vicinity of the famous waterfall when the conversation turned into a quarrel. Upon leaving, one man was killed in the dispute. The two others later argued and one of them killed, the survivor confessing before his death. The three men are still said to haunt the area, and their voices, shrieks and moans of torment can be heard when there is a fierce storm.
