Wardley Hall

A "screaming skull", believed to be that of a Benedictine monk named Father Ambrose who was executed in 1641 for failing to renounce his Catholicism, is held here, having been retrieved by an adherent to that faith. On the few occasions that the skull has left the hall, powerful storms reputedly hit the area, and screams heard within the building until the relic was replaced.
