High Trees

Once a former rectory, the Vicar was told by his wife that she was ill and he elected to hold the service by himself. However, he realised he had forgotten his glasses and returned home to fetch them - where he found his wife in the arms of the butler. The vicar threw the butler down the stairs but he soon recovered his senses and fled, never to return. The vicar slit his wife's throat and then resumed his service, leaving his wife to die. It is said that the bloodstain is still there and will not be washed away; the spectre of the wife has been seen in the bedroom and stairway, where she died, and the Vicar walks in the grounds and round the walls, horrified by his deeds.
