Ruthin Castle

The ruins are said to be haunted by a "Grey Lady" - or Lady Grey; in life it is said that she dispatched a rival to her husband's affections in c.15th century with an axe and was executed for her deeds, being buried in unconsecrated ground, where a pile of stones called "The Grey Lady's Grave" can be seen. However, the reports of her date to modern times. Some say that her phantom looks "crazed", walking through the banquetting hall, battlements and even outside the castle walls, wielding an axe. The hotel, adjoining the ruins has reports of lights, voices, noises and perhaps a knight in armour wearing only one gauntlet.
