Falcon Hotel

The story is that the ghost here is called "Arthur", a blacksmith whose shop was on the site of the hotel. He was hanged when Cromwell's forces arrived and asked him to provide shoes for their horses but as a Royalist, Arthur refused - and was duly executed. Tobacco smoke, the spectre of a young woman, a door rattling, glasses moving off the shelves and the sensation of being pushed in the back has also occurred here. The phantom is said to be encountered in the wine cellar and two of the bedrooms, including one that overlooks the walnut tree where the blacksmith was hanged.
