Flaxley Abbey

The abbey reputedly has a mile long tunnel that led southwards towards the Severn and during the reign of Henry VIII, a fiddler decided to follow its route and told his companions to follow the sound of his instrument above ground. A short while later, the sound stopped and the fiddler was never seen again, but his spectral music is still said to be heard from time to time. The Abbey graveyard is haunted by Brother Wulfram who chose to remain at the abbey after it was closed down under Henry VIII.
