Hadleigh Castle

A "White Lady" walks here and, as a rarity, interacts with people; she apparently commanded a milkmaid to come to the castle at midnight but she grew so frightened she decided not to the rendezvous - whereupon the ghost appeared and hit her so hard, the poor girl's neck was dislocated leaving a permanent injury! James "Cunning" Murrell once lived in a hut on the slopes of the castle, where he provided horoscopes and cures to locals and he returns to this locale after death, where he is said to be looking for herbs in the grounds. Singing, wailing and crying have also been heard among the ruins too.
