Built on the site of the Blue Boar Inn, the headless Henry Stafford, the 2nd Duke of Buckingham haunts the rear of this store where the location of the old pub remains an open place; he also pops in the ladies changing room where he "hisses" at the occupants! Buckingham had tried to form a revolt against King Richard III but was captured and held captive at the Inn. He was found guilty of treason and executed. On one occasion, the alarms were all set off and all the locked doors flung open, and a worker also reported an icy grasp on his shoulder in the attic. Meanwhile, the street front is haunted by a little girl in Victorian attire who plays here, seemingly very happy. She is said to greet visitors with a curtsey, shows them the entrance - and vanishes.
