Nothe Fort

The Fort was built to provide protection against feared French hostile advances and was also manned in World War 2. Its ghostly reputation comes from a shadowy figure that has been seen walking along the walls. The whistling of a young gunner who was crushed by a cannon is heard in the underground tunnels. In the shell store, people have been touched, dogs react to an invisible presence and children have seen things that no one else has; and a door in the main complex opens despite the best efforts of the staff to keep it closed, and CCTV cameras are interfered with, amongst many other phenomena.
