The Rectory in Warleggan

The Rookery (Rectory), is haunted by the ghost of Frederick Densham, who took charge in 1931. His behaviour (including letting his ravenous dogs roam the neighbourhood resulting in attacks on sheep) did not endear him to the residents but he survived an attempt to have him removed as rector and the villagers boycotted his services. In 1953, Densham fell down the stairs and died; his body was not found for two days. The rectory was sold, Densham's possessions auctioned and his private papers destroyed. It is said that he still walks the grounds of the old rectory and along the pathway to his church.
