Buckland Abbey

The ghost of Sir Francis Drake, according to legend, is the coachman of a jet black hearse led by black headless horses and chased by black hounds, supposedly in payment for asking the Devil to assist in his various "rewards" including his military battles. The coach is said to be seen in the grounds, where visitors also reported Latin chants and singing. A lone phantom monk is also said to be seen; sometimes he is joined by his brothers as they process through the long-gone corridors.
